Philip Marcel Charron (1917-1944) was Keith's older cousin, but they were more like brothers. They spoke French together (Keith's immediate family only spoke English). Philip was an only child, and Keith was the oldest in a family of six children.
Philip became a Spitfire pilot. He joined the RCAF in October 1940, and no doubt, Keith's decision to sign up was inspired by his admiration of his older cousin. You can view Philip's service record on the 'Aces of WW2' website.
