Learning to Fly:

Letter from Keith to his mother dated June 9 1944

'Say you may be interested to know that I am flying in Wellingtons, & will be going on Lancasters next so when you see a Lanc in the news you may be surprised to see me stuck out in the tail, I wish I could send you a picture of me in my flying gear boy what an outfit, electric heating & all as if we don’t need it, & weve got so darn much stuff on our head & face you can’t tell who is who, intercom, goggles & oxygen mask besides the helmet itself, boy if this war don’t hurry up & get over I won’t know my own brothers & sisters they’ll have grown so much. '
